List of Things We Don’t Like About France…..

OK, so the real purpose of this post is to let you know that we are alive and well! We know it’s been ages since the last blog post but that’s because we’ve been having far too good a time to sit around writing stories on an iPad!!

We have been travelling with Katrina and Bernard, our good friends from Wellington, and have had a wonderful time together since picking them up four weeks ago at Milan Airport. Since then, we’ve travelled through parts of Italy including the lakes in the north and the Cinque Terre, across the Adriatic to Croatia where we really enjoyed Dubrovnik and Split in particular, up through Slovenia and Austria to Germany, then onto Switzerland for a few days. Then, last week we farewelled Bernard in Geneva as he had to get back to NZ for work but Katrina is still with us “on tour” – we have had a great few days showing her some of our favourite areas in the South of France. We’ll drop Katrina off in Paris on Wednesday, and at 8am the next morning we catch a EuroShuttle and leave the Continent ourselves to head back to the UK after almost 5 months on this side of the Channel.

So, yes, we are fine and we are still enjoying ourselves very much. There’s a few blog posts in various stages of completion because we have so much to share, but for now, let’s just share the list of the things we can’t stand about the country we have now been in six times this trip, for a total stay that will amount to more than 7 weeks by the time we finally leave.

Here’s the full list of “List of Things We Don’t Like About France…..”

We’ll be back as soon as possible with stories about bells, Bosnia, and bridges among other things. TTFN.

  1. very good! Glad you like France! What does TTFN mean? Robert says “tata for now” is that right? Summer is here now, daylight savings is great and the weather has been warm and lovely. Melbourne Cup day tomorrow so the city comes to a halt. Lots of people have taken today off as well and away on a four day weekend. We love reading your news, and hope all is well and that Pauline is well too! Nita and Robertxx

    • Robert is correct! Thanks for your message, yes we are both fit and well. Not keen on the upcoming cold of the UK though….daylight saving ended here last weekend, and the nights are so much darker earlier, and colder! Enjoy your summer!

  2. Really enjoy reading your blogs. Have been catching up on lots of them these past few days. We also just love France, especially the food and the wine. Back in 1999 we spent 7 weeks just in France to try and get it out of our system but it only made it worse!! Have been there many times on other trips. Did you do the Cinque Terre walk? We loved it.
Christine, our Boss at the SU Outdoor Centre where we worked in Scotland for a lot of the time we were away, arrives tomorrow to stay with us so we are really looking forward to her visit.
Continue to enjoy your travels and the UK winter!!

    • Hi N&R
Yes we’ve loved France so much this time, and will really miss it (especially when we are freezing in the UK!). And yes, the food and wine…..oh, la la!!
Cinque Terre was excellent, but we couldn’t do the walk as the whole path was closed after landslide and rockfall problems. Still, the towns were still lovely to visit – we just wen town to town by train instead.
Thanks for keeping in touch, glad you enjoy the blog
      A
